Your stay in Algeria may require a VISA, Please check if you need it. VISA is issued by the Algerian consulate in your city/country. In case there is no Algeria diplomatic authorities in your city/country, please contact the closest one to you. We can offer you assistance for visa application procedures. All visa applications must be accompanied by an official invitation letter.

Oran (Arabic: وهران‎, Wahrān)

(Arabic: وهران‎, Wahrān) is a coastal city in the north-west of Algeria. It is the second most important city of Algeria after the capital Algiers. If your arrive from Algiers, you will cross 432 km (268 mile) to reach Oran. The name Oran (« Wahran » in Arabic) is derived from the Arabic word « Ihran » that means « two lions ». The last two lions were hunted on a mountain near Oran and are elsewhere referred to as « mountain lions ». Oran is a very nice city to visit, and you will certainly enjoy discovering our city.

How to reach Oran

By plane

Oran is linked to Europe, Asia, America by Ahmed Ben Bella International Airport. It is less than 2h30 from Paris (3 flights per day). Other direct-flight destinations include Lyon, Nice, Marseille, London, Barcelone, Madrid, ….

By train

Oran is at the western terminus of the Algerian railway network. Trains from Algiers are plentiful with more than 10 daily services.

Travel inside the city

Besides a large urban bus network, you can travel in Oran by:
